TRESPASSING

At Riverland Park, we have both private property and common areas.  The delineation of the two is not always clear and we have situations where people are inadvertently passing through private property thinking it is common.  We will post a map here shortly that will help you understand the areas but an immediate concern is the property between 2136 and 2140 Pentland.  Although an easement for the sewage line exists the area is private property and should not be used as a cut through to Galloway Lane.  The same holds true for all the other homes on Pentland where it is possible to cut through to Galloway.

Of note is the fact that the sidewalk in front of the homes on Riverland Drive is actually owned by the 7 individual home owners that also face Riverland Drive.  Yes, you heard it right, each home owner owns the concrete in front of their house that is part the aggregate sidewalk.  All the other sidewalks are owned and maintained by the City of Charleston.  Please be respectful when you use this particular sidewalk as technically, you are on private property.

One final note on sidewalks.  If you are having your home pressure washed, be a good neighbor and have them do the sidewalk in front of your house, even if it is technically the City’s sidewalk.  It is just the right thing to do.
