Parking on the streets is, in theory, prohibited by the City of Charleston. The streets are simply not wide enough to allow for parking and an emergency vehicle. In addition, all trailers (boat, dump etc.) are supposed to be out of site. Don’t use the street to park your trailer on. Please don’t park on the street.
The overflow parking lot can be used by anyone in the neighborhood, and their guests, for any period of time. Again, no trailers or unregistered vehicles. All vehicles must be under the weight restrictions outlined in the rules.
On occasion we have had folks ask for forgiveness on the parking in the street rule due to an event they are having at their home where there may be dozens of cars. Technically the Board has no legal jurisdiction on the issue, but we can help decrease the probability that the police will be called. What we suggest is that if you are having an event of that magnitude, you let the Board know and we will use this web site and an email blast and the unofficial Facebook page to let everyone know about the event. You should also let your guests know to use your driveway, the parking lot and the circle at the end of the cul-de-sac (in that order) for parking. This will help minimize any issue regarding access for emergency vehicles.
